Activity 2
Not everyone supports bullfighting in Spain. In fact, about 30% of the population want it to be banned (stopped) completely. What do you think? On your blog tell us whether or not you think that bullfighting should be banned in Spain. Please provide, at least, two reasons to support your decision.
I personally think that this activity is very dangerous but I also think that it shouldn’t be banned because it has been apart of their culture for a very long time and you should always respect other people’s culture/religion. Even though the toreros and matadors get killed they should face the consequence of participating in the activity. So I think you should be highly trained to participate in this activity.
Hi Saveu
ReplyDeleteI understand your opinion. I have a different one though because I think that (Even though they decide to participate in the activity) the toreros and matadors will probably get hurt. Nice job.

Hi Saveu,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your opinion about bullfighting with us, it's clear that you have really thought about whether it should be banned or not.
It is always good to be mindful and respectful of other people's cultures, particularly with longstanding traditions in another country. Often, we will continue to do something even though it may be wrong or hurting people, in the name of 'tradition', or because we have always done it that way. I believe it is important however, to always try and do the right thing - especially if people and animals are being hurt.
It's true that matadors do face a very high risk in bullfighting, many are injured and some even die. But what happens that isn't as widely publicised is that the bulls are mistreated extremely badly leading up to and during the fight. This is done to weaken the bulls senses and strength before and during the fight to give the matador an advantage. Is it really fair to treat animals this way for the sake of entertainment? It's a tricky question!
I like that you are so respectful of other people's traditions and cultures Saveu. But it is still important to make up our own mind about things as well when we travel!
Thank you for another interesting blog, I enjoyed reading your response to this one.
Dan.
